Upon successful completion of the school, students receive a validated SCCA Novice Permit or Full Competition License allowing them to enter any SCCA Regional Road Racing event.

School includes: three days of instruction: racing rules education, on-track training with instruction by nationally licensed drivers, and practice starts and races. Online ground school to be completed on your own before the school weekend.

REQUIREMENTS

SCCA Membership is required - you can join online at any time on the National SCCA web page: www.scca.com  [look for Join SCCA button at top of each page]

You will need to provide your own gear (helmet, suit, gloves, etc) and car. See the SFR Driver School page for the complete list of safety gear.

If you want to rent a car rather than provide your own, see our Rental Car List.

Novice Permit and Physical Exam -  You will need to obtain your Novice Permit and turn in a Physical Exam form to the National Office. It can take several weeks to receive your Novice Permit after you send the forms to SCCA National. DO NOT leave this until the last minute!

Novice Permit Application

Physical Exam Form

If you are 15-18 years old, you will  need to complete the Minor Release and Waiver and Minor's Assumption of Risk Acknowledgment form. These are available for download, or you can contact SCCA to have one mailed to you.

If you already have a Novice Permit or Competition License, you may enter the school to receive additional instruction and experience.

The Thunderhill paddock will open at 5 pm on Thursday, Feb. 13 for participants to set-up their pit area.

The gate will remain open throughout the event weekend. When you arrive at the track, sign the track waiver at the front gate.
